I think I've seen people use the fatboy headlight on their 48.

Here's my setup

The headlight is a Drag Specialties 2001-0556 .
The housing comes with a e-code headlight assembly in it with a bulb.
I have a Cibie E-Code 7" in the housing.
The headlight can mounted to the stock base mount with a washer on each side to make it fit correctly.

I used the base mount that came with it eventually , but I had to make a clearance cut about 1/4" deep and 5/8" tall to miss the steering stops on the backside.
This mounts closer in and a bit higher , about 1 finger between the odo button and housing.
The stock wiring can be used without cutting it if you are carefull taking the pins out of the headlight socket.
If you pull the harness back till the wires show , the rubber bushing large end can be fed through the hole and used in the new housing , just reassemble and you're done.
Easy and good perfoming mod when you're finished.

Very nice. Now put a Truck-Lite LED in that bucket and light up the night! They look great and work even better.

Thanks Mick. That is exactly what I want. But I dont want to have to do a bunch of conversion stuff. Can I get the DS 2001-0556 and just put it on?

I used the OEM mount on my 7". It does make it stick out a bit more.

Bruce , the headlight assembly come wired for an E-code headlamp with a tiny little bulb in the housing also.
What I did was disconnect all the wiring in the headlight.
Leave the small bulb and socket in the housing (it won't hurt anything).
Cut the long "ground" wire that attaches to the housing in half (you don't need it).
Remove all the wiring from the Drag Specialties housing.
On your original headlight , disassemble the headlight plug (just 3 wires).
Pull the harness back out of the housing slowly until you can see the wire colors.
The harness tape makes the rubber bushing fit snug in the hole.
Work the big end of the rubber bushing out the back of the original housing , and slide the wires out the back.
Intall the new housing and feed the 3 wires in from the rear.
Work the big end of the bushing through the hole.
Feed the taped portion of the wiring into the bushing , this expands it.
I had to use a 3/8" flat washer on the inside each side of the housing ears to make the stock bottom mount the same width as the headlight housing inner ear width.
The mount that comes with it is slightly wider.
Reassemble the headlight plug.
Install the bulb and you're done.
No wiring mods , easy as pie.
Aim correctly for best performance.

Just for info that tiny bulb is required in parts of Europe as a sidelight or parking light.

Thanks GR , I always wondered what the little one was for.
If you want to use the mount that came with the Drag Specialties light , here's the mods needed.

You can see that the mount has to be relieved on the back at the bottom.
I cut the mount in 1/4" and 5/8" tall on the backside.
This mounts the headlight higher and farther back than the stock lower mount.
The kit doesn't come with the required bolt for the bottom mount (underneath).
The stock bolt is coarse thread and the DS is fine thread.
I used a 3/8 x 24 x 1 1/4" socket head screw with the original lock washer on mine.
