Default 4.5 gallon tank

I have a 2009 xl883 sportster With a small tank, will
A 4.5 gallon tank from a 2011 xl 1200 sportster fit my bike

It's been done, a guy I used to work with did it. He had to get a new seat, his stock seat was too big to fit with the bigger tank. I remember he said he didn't have any issues with the handlebars hitting the tank, and I think he had stock bars/risers.

I just removed the 4.5 gal. tank and seat from my 2007xl if anyone is interested in them pm me.

don't do it...the peanut tank is what makes a sporty look so good. It's classic

Made the switch then went back. Hate the 4.5 , love the 3.3.

Agreed. The 4.5 totally changes the look of the bike. In worse, IMHO.
