Default 1989 Sportster 883 w/ 1200 kit

Just picked up a 1989 Sportster. 883 with a 1200 kit. Belt drive conversion. Around 27k miles. Needs a battery and a carb cleaning to run. Its ugly. From the one pic I have, it looks like the frame has been powder coated blue but maybe its a can job. Tank, fenders, its all blue. Its a real smurf-cycle. $1400.

Its down in Florida and had a few friends pick it up for when I move back down there in about two months. Wondering what I should definitely change and/or replace immediately when I start working on it.

I'm already planning on draining the gas tank, and oil and putting new gas, oil, and oil filter along with a new battery. I just don't know what else to change.

Also, I'm probably going to have everything apart when I get everything repainted and the frame back to black as I'll have plenty of time when I get back. Just wondering what would be some good routine things to do while it is apart. All recommendations will be appreciated. Just please take into account I bought the bike for $1400.

Thanks everyone. This is my first motorcycle and I look forward to learning much from these forums. I thank you all in advance!

I think the angle of that speedo is an issue to look at.
