Celtic- 1200 kit! I rode my father-in-laws 883 for a while before I bought my 1200. The 883 would never go above 90-95 mph for me, I've been 120-125 mph on my 1200, course it has been modified a bit but the 1200 is way better for quickness. (No offense)

Well as it turns out I was wrong I went to the pumps and put in a tank of 91 and damn if she did not take off like a rapped ape! I took out the baffles and then I put on a drag spcl open air cleaner and Bamo! Instant rocket! Now when I go to the throttle a little slow at first but then watch out take off and I'm doing 80 in about 2 shakes of a witches tit in a church on sunday! Just thought that I would share..

Dude google "modify stock backplate Harley Sportster xl forum" There is a huge thread with many pics on there. Just take the biggest drill bit you got and start drilling, you can't mess it up. Use a piece of swiss cheese to go by. Make the holes BIG like an inch. Then drill some holes in the front of the backplate that way some air gets into the front. Just go crazy on the damn thing. Or you can just go to xlforum.net and go into the carb, efi exhaust section it's a sticky on there.

I got lucky with my K & N air filter. I've got an 07 883xl. I didn't want to pay the $70 bucks for a replacement filter because I'm cheap too. Instead I paid $135 for the K & N replacement (black) and the cleaner kit that'll probably do 10 or more cleanings. Should pay for itself after only two cleanings. I actually got more horsepower from just the replacement. Sounds beefier too. Pipes are next. Any suggestions? Should I replace just the muffler or the entire pipe and will the latter require a re-chip/re-dyna?
