whew..... Your opening up a can worms starting with a questions like that.
I believe you have a 883C from the other post you've made which means you have the customer riser, first thing you need to decide before worrying about how big the bars are going to be is to decide if you want to ditch that riser for straight ones?

I would agree with the post from TW above, stick with narrow ones as they generally look better on sportsters.
I have a 883Low, stock risers(1 or 1 and a half inch, i think) and just went with some mini apes from Khrome Werks that are labeled for a dyna. Bars cost me around 60 bucks and are drilled so you can wire internally. Clutch and Front brake cables($70-$80 each for Magnum Black Pearl braided) did have to be changed to longer lengths but my throttle and idle were fine. If you go internal wiring then you'll have to take that into account as well.
I know you said you looking for lowest cost but the reality is low to you may not be the same as low to others when factoring in DIY vs. shop work.
