Default new to HD, got a nightster

hey guys i just started a year ago on a rebel 250. this winter my wife let me pick out a new bike. i ride with mostly harley guys and decided to get a harley that would keep up with any sport bikes that messed with me. the choice was obvious. it had to be a sportster model.

i got a 09 nightster 1200 for just under 13k out the door. I probably could have got a better deal but i dont mind paying a little more for quality stuff.

i know im going to have a lot of fun this summer and im probably going to be asking a lot of questions. tomorrow im going to take it out for a spin ive only rode it twice as of right now. i cant wait for a jap bike to mess with me at a stop light.

anyways, enough about me. nice to meet you guys

If it's speed your after, you just wasted 13 grand. One doesn't "buy a Harley" for speed...if you're talking about sport-bike speed anyway. If you wanted a "quick Harley", you could have bought a V-rod....but then you're still going to get your a** handed to ya if you attempt to race a sport bike stop light to stop light. I would suggest that you enjoy the sound, the ride, the coolness factor of what you have and you'll really begin to know what owning "a Harley" is all about. Welcome to the forum, keep the rubber side down and "if you ride like there's no tomorrow....there won't be."

Hey Bro. Not to sound like I am hating but do us all a favor and ride responsible. It's hard enough being a biker observing the law. We don't need to make things harder on us by racing light to light. That's what a drag strip is for. Congrats on the new bike and be safe.
