Default NIGHTSTER! handlebar help?

Im hoping I get some good answers here. Im low on my budget now for my nightster. I put short shots on it. im getting forward controls soon. Im almost 6ft im 5 11. Im wondering has anyone just added risers to there stock nightster handlebars and loostened the bolts and just pushed there handlebars forward a few inches for a better fit with stock cables.? If yes let me know how that ride is. Ive been riding dirtbikes for 10 years and harley is a new beast to me but I like it. Oh and by the way god bless the troops in fort hood.

Adding taller risers is pretty common. If you have some down time you could try longer bolts & cut some 3/4" PVC pipe for spacers just to see how much height you need to be comfortable and how much your stock cables will allow. Just a couple bucks & a good way to feel it before you throw down on risers you are unsure of.

I'm not at all suggesting you ride it like this. Please don't.
