Default Do I need an engine remap?

I am thinking of getting the Vance Hines "Straight Shots" slip ons for my '07 Nightster. Can I just buy them and install them and be ok? Or will I start getting backfiring. I'm thinking I may need to take it to the Harley Dealer to remap it too. Thanks -Sergio

Just about everyone has just replaced the exhaust with no remap and been fine. But if you change the exhaust and air cleaner, you'll need a remap.

The HD dealer will tell you yes, but you should be fine. Install the pipes and ride it-see how it feels and runs. plus the plugs after about a few hundred miles and see how they look. If they are super white then remap needed-if they are tan or darker then all is fine.

No you do not need to remap. I put sideshots full system on my bike. Had a little bit of popping on decel but did not need to remap until I put on the air breather. Also a remap is only good for one mod, when you do the next mod, you will have to do it again (another$300.00) if you buy a sert or fuel pak or pc you can just readjust it. for free!

No need to re-map. However there's a lot of extra poop just waiting to be tapped into if you do the pipes/breather/remap combination.
