I would expect about 40mpg, give or take a few, around town.

I will confuse you guys a bit, I have an 09-1200L - my light comes on right around the 200 -225 km mark every time. I fill up and it takes 10-11 litres. I always get 19-21 km/litre, I think that is fairly close to 50 miles per gallon?

I have an 06 1200 c an i seldom get under 50 mpg. I recently made a trip to chicago mostly back roads and mountain twisties there and interstate back. I averaged between 51 and 55 mpg.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I will try RATROD HOG's suggestion and report back. It's my first bike and I don't know what to expect. This is an awesome forum, I'm glad I found y'all.

welcome to the forum. My '05 1200C is always right on 44mpg. a little over 1/2 freeway@ 73mph. You should see mid-upper 40's when you get outa town. Your 4.5 gal tank should get 150 miles to reserve.

On my trip saturday I ran about 55mpg. It was some open roads and some freeway riding at 75 or so. I have had it run between 47 and 57 depending on my riding and how much city riding i am doing. Unfortunately my roadie has me looking for a gas station around 120 miles just to be safe. It was a welcome relief to only get two gallons into it last time though :-)
