Hey do you guys have a lift for your bike when you are doing work on it? Where and what should I get?

FOr the Sportster I am using the yellow Harbor freight lift. I will probably get a more substantial lift for the Bagger in the future

I bought a cheap bike lift from Sam's a number of years ago. Seems to do the job just fine.

If you're looking to buy one, craigslist and ebay always seem to have a couple at really decent prices. My dad uses the craftsman one and I'll probably buy the same (which I saw on craigslist a few weeks back for $40... kickin myself now).

I heard a lot of things about the cheap Craftsman (Black & Red). My buddy down the street has one ... no problem. However, if you check the Sears website and lookup motorcycle lifts this model has less than 50% approval rating. It seems that they fail in the hydraulic barrel, and they are non serviceable ... no repair parts available.

According to the Sears feedback ... It is 50/50 that you will get a good one. The reviewers will say to save your money on a more expensive model.

Never met a real live person who had one go bad though.

The yellow Sears jack which is an OTC will fit under a 4" high bike and lift higher than the red Sears jack.It is also much higher quality and easily supported my friends bagger. He would not give it back so he bought it from me for the price of my new one.If you have a low the yellow will fit under without playing the riding up on a board game.If you tried it you would never want the red one.The yellow one is a 1500 lb capacity. So BT you may have the same one already.Read the height specs you will know.Put up a pic of your yellow one BT I"ll tell you if it is a rebadged OTC.Provided the specs say it will carry 1500.

I'm actually an auto tech so of course I went overboard. I have a Handy table lift, it was around $900 but well worth it! cheaper tables work just as well plus I can pick up the father inlaw ultra no problem!
