CHarley can you provide a link showing where the Silverstar uses more power than that PIAA bulb? The H4ST Silverstar bulb for motorcycles is rated at 55/60W just like the PIAA bulb you linked to.

This is a good read about bulbs http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...good/good.html

Hey, I do the same as GYMRAT523. I ride all the time with the high beam on. Unless I have to be right behind someone on the highway I stay on High beam. I have never been flashed. I only go to low so I am not blinding the car in front of me. In the daytime I am on high beam also. Figure if I am to bright for oncoming traffic maybe they will see me and not pull out? Thanks Mark

I think the headlight on my 08 Nightster is pretty darn good compared to my 2000 Shadow I had. I think the headlight is ugly, but, it seems to throw off a lot of light. When I turn the brights on, it's brighter than the 3 headlights I had on the shadow.

After putting the nacelle on mine, I've noticed my headlight lights up the road a lot better. I'd imagine because it's a bit lower now. Surprising side effect.

I agree. My headlight is as bright as I would want it to be.

I have a Buell Blast 7" headlight on mine. I still would like more light!

Can't ever have enough light, until the sun comes up.

Have been having the same problem with poor lighting on my 2005 Custom. Was so bad I would rarely ride it at nite, especially when the deer are running. Pulled the lamp, removed the diffuser, and installed a Sylvania silverstar 9003ST. Also cleaned the lens interior well before reinstalling.

That is a severe difference. The color and reach is surprising. Can't believe the difference from OEM bulbs. The H4ST that I looked all over for has been replaced by the 9003ST and can be found at O'reillys, Walmart, and most any Auto parts stores. Worked for me.

Actually the H4ST has not been replaced with the 9003ST, they are both being made. I looked on Sylvania's site and they look about the same except Sylvania recommends the H4ST for motorcycle use and it also has a longer rated life of 150 hours on low and 50 on high vs 140 and 46 for the 9003ST.
