The 42-10 easy kit is for aftermarket air cleaners, including the SE.
However, all you need is the carb and the adapter ring, if you can get that cheaper.
I got a 42-10 for $260, plus shipping; threw away the parts I didn't need. Installed and tuned it myself, with no worries. I did have to play with the throttle cable routing a bit to get it right. Actually, the HSR 42 is pretty easy to tune compared to the Keihan CV. A great deal quicker response when you twist the throttle. I have seen comparative tests on moderately improved bikes (air, exhaust), and at that level the Mikuni will produce 3 to 5 HP more than the stock CV. If you decide to go ahead and do headwork, improve compression, etc., the improvement will be greater.
My experience, maybe others have had different experiences. You need to do what you want to do.
