I thought it was to make you speed up for a turn and make riding real exciting again. My 1200 jumps a bit if I'm not careful but you can adjust to it with time and attention.I like buttons on the right and left nowbut I have to remember where they are on my other bikes.
So, if I can just hit the horn button and not the dimmer switch I'll be more confident. Sometimes the horn is more effective that a bright light.

Actually, I'd be kind of surprised if anyone under 40 years old even knew what the hand signals were.Â*
I'm well under 40 and I use hand signals...
Then again, my wife told me I act like a "Grandpa" because I bought a Harley instead of another crotch rocket...
I think that's just amazing for someone so young to know what they are.Â* Do you also know what an 8-track is?Â*
I do! 20 Years old and I know hand signals AND I actually own quite a few 8 tracks, duplicates of albums my dad had on vinyl and gave to me... I never listen to them though because my player shit out like 4 years ago and they sound like ass anyway.. But they're still cool to have.

But yeah, I had a hard time at first because I learned how to ride on my dads metric which has the signals on the left side and dont auto cancel..Used to drive around all the time signaling lol...

Get yourself some of these http://www.throttlerocker.com/ and you can use the palm of your hand to hold throttle steady while pushing the turn signal.
