Default RE: Sportster Sidecar?

ORIGINAL: badinfluence63

I didn't take a course but I did read the BMW sidecar 30-40 something page converted from German to English manual as well as look up as many official sidecar WWW's that I could. It did give me a degree of heads up but nothing the gave me more then an entry level understanding. And everything you said about it is true. Going left is not so bad. Going right is a struggle. The sidecar makes the bikerattle, shimmie and move in ways a solo rider is not used to.

The best advise was take it slow. Slow in the corners, slow on the uptake, slow on the down shift etc...

The Rider's three wheels course offers a good intro duction to Hack and Trike. The Northern Va Comm Coll course folks from Tidewater, VA did not have any trikes to teach one, but three of the students had their own, I took the hack option. it was a hoot.

I saw one on the internet. It was Pacific Blue Pearl. I think it was in the UK, though.

Here is a link, but not the one I saw.

Here's a link with some nice sidecar photos.... http://www.vsidecars.com/home/current/page1/

You wouldn't catch me in either seat on a bike with a sidecar. Inherentlyunstable at speed for evasive action. Bike manufacturers stopped producing 3-wheel ATVs about 20 years ago due to safety issues. Go figure.

The Germans loved the sidecars in WWII. They always seemed to be easy targets in war movies with horrendous outcomes. No wonder they lost the war.

Exactly why the thought crossed my mind. No lab though... a malamute/beagle, a harrier, & a rescue mix. The Mal/beagle has ridden in between me & my bro in the past & his head turns in the back of the jeep with every scooter that passes us. I might consider a side car just for him.

There's more out there than you might think. Our friend uses one on a 1000 sportster. I don't have a image for ya, but it always get a lot of attention.
