Fingers crossed for the V&H pipes for you. Let us know how you get on with them.

I'd like to emphasize the wind noise issue. Wind noise is probably the major contributor to the ringing in your ears. The loud pipes might only be make you more aware of it. As for the tone, I also do not like the loud crack that many pipes make. I have Rush pipes with 2" baffles that give a rich deep tone. In fact their website has sound clips with different size baffles in their slip ons.

I think the V&H is louder than SE, I have owned both. I don't know about the quiet baffle though, I have no problem with the stock baffle, wear a 3/4 helmet all year long.

Ear plugs are the way to go to combat exhaust noise and wind blast, and save your hearing.

Well .... I'm taking a risk here. I swapped my SE's back to stock and have ordered V&H slip ons with quiet baffles. It wasn't the volume as much as the harshness of the exhaust that did it for me. The SE's created a harsh sonic 'pop' as the pistons thumped away, which created a clicking in my inner ear. I've read some place here that people refer to some of the after market exhausts as having a 'cheese grater' sound. It was just harsh and it hurt. Hoping that while the V&H pipes will be loud, they won't have that harshness. Fingers crossed.
Bear in mind that over time the fiberglass around the baffle will wear out and produce a different sound.

I have about3500 mileson my V&H Straightshot HS slipons w/quiet baffles and they sound a lot different now than at first install.

The do have a "bark" at throttle, but not as loud/harsh as regular V&H baffles though.

Damn. I wanted to get the SE SP slip-ons, but I'm afraid they'll be too loud now. I think the stock pipes are about the loudness I want, but I want the performance upgrade that the SE SP pipes have. Is there any way to increase performance with a pipe that's similar to the stock pipes [as far as sound level]?

LOL. This looks like something Forrest Gump would post or perhaps it's like the guy going to the doctor and saying that every time I do "this" it hurts. The doctor says: quite doing that. (followed by a big DUHHHHHHHH)

I have the V&H straight shot slip-ons with the quiet baffles. I love the sound. Still louder than stock but much easier on the ears out on the highway. Highly recommend them.
