Default Rear fender project

Need your precious help once again. You guys are awesome to say the least

I want to replace my bob tail fender for the classic heritage / fatboy style and I've pretty much figured out (thanks to all of you) that the heritage springer rear fender (flsts) will fit smoothly on my 03 fxsts...

What I haven't been able to sort out are details on the install (as in wiring complications, if any), rear tail light set up and license plate set up (heritage standard set up for the license plate is on top of the tail light and I'm looking to put it on the bottom!).

Anyone embark on such a project with tips to share would be greatly appreciated.

Check out this pic i found through google, someone managed to pulled it off (with turn signals relocated and license plate on bottom). Thanks!!!

p.s., also looking to buy an 03 flsts rear fender in black if you have one!

Buddy it might be easier to find a deluxe fender. They are pretty much the same fender as the springer fender. The fender in your picture is a deluxe set up with a Softbrake plate relocate bracket and Tombstone housing. Look up Softbrake on google.

Amazing advice... Thank you! I will for sure hit up softbrake for their plate relocate bracket and housing! As far as the fender goes, im not sure they made the deluxe fender in 2003! I googled the deluxe fender and it wasn't made in the 100th anniversary paint scheme. So I'm guessing the fender in the pic is the flsts one unless it is a deluxe painted to match 100th anniversary paint scheme.

What is the difference (looks wise?) between a deluxe and flsts heritage rear fender?

They are the same raw fender. Use same light mounts and holes. A painted 100th fender will cost you an arm and a leg. Might be easier to buy a deluxe fender and have it painted. Just another path for your goal. Good luck on the finds.

Indeed another option. thanks again. I am curious however by how you were able to tell it is a deluxe fender. There must be a differnace in the appearance. I simply ask becuase I have found many pics of fxsts' with heritage style fenders but this one stood out and I think its because it has a deluxe fender.

btw.. I'm commited now as I placed a bid on a fender on ebay. only thing i need to find is smoked rear lenses to the tombstone housing.

No fatboy fenders have different tail light mounts and do not have the holes and mounts for the turn signals.

I was going to say that the man to ask would be Fireman1501 but I see he already chimed in. Also, Fireman, with the 6 inch drop will that hit if you go over a speed bump? I can't make up my mind if I want a 4, 5 or 6 inch drop when I have you do my fender's and yes guys that's plural. I want both my front and rear stretched when the time comes to get them done.
