Can't comment on what I've read. But my last 2 harleys came with Dunlop 402's. I replaced them with Metzler 880's when the 'lops wore down. About 9,000 on the rear for the 'lops. The stickier, far better handling Metzlers went 12,000. So my "experience" is the Metzlers last at least as long as the 402's. Can't comment on Elite 3's.

Last set I ran 42/48, lasted 8,000 miles front and rear. This set I'm doing 38/42. We'll see how they wear.

I got my Avon Venoms yesterday, am anxious to see how they perform next to the stock D402's I had. I got almost 13,000 off them, but I'm looking for handling now not milage.

tire pressure is the key. owners manual seems to under inflate. I emailed Metzler and they reccomended max tire pressure (as printed on the tire) for max mileage. I would email them and give them your body weight too....I weigh 206 so I put 39 in front and 42 in rear. I run a Cobra on the rear and metz on front...just hit 100miles on the new rubber and it feels like glass.

Default ME 880 tires

I run these tire on my fat boy and I'm pretty hard on tires. These are very soft, that's why they're great tires in my opinion. I think 8k is really good. My last 880 rear lasted about 6K and it was down to the core, although I wasnt good at checking the pressure until i found out these tires bleed off very quickly?

I've got 3/32 dead center and 5/32 just off center. Anyone want to share their experience with the ME 880's and should I be considering replacing the front tire soon or does dead center wear usually happen? Thanks!!
