I'm about to breakdown and buy a pair of fishtails and the stage 1 air filter. I've reading about the controllers that allow you to map your fuel injection and have a couple questions:
1. I've seen and read about the stage 1 air filters and hear alot about the screamin eagle and the big sucker. I kinda want to stick with the whole nostaglic look. Can anyone suggest any stage 1 air filters that would keep the nostagic theme of the deluxe?
2. After I install these two items on my bike, can I just take the bike somewhere and have it remapped instead of buying these controllers. If so, what are advantages or disadvantages of doing this......
I get confused reading all these post with acronyms like.....pcIII, sert, etc......
Thank you in advance for your insight

Good call on the fishtails. Harley does make a real nice round a/c that looks old and I'm sure it uses an K&N high flow filter. You can take the bike after you install the two back to the dealer and have a download done to it. Some people will tell you that they suck, some will swear by it. Keep doing your homework and make the call. The one disadvantage to this is that YOU can not tweak the settings once it is downloaded. Some people like to and some of the fuel management systems allows for more engine mods down the road.

As previously stated, choosing between the Harley Race Tuner and the Power Commander is just that...your choice. You will probably find there are pros and cons with both. I already had a dealer-done Stage I w/ race tuner and just switched from the V&H Big Radius to Samson Cholo fishtails. Very happy so far.

Just had the same thing done to my deluxe. V&H fishtails, HD highflow intake and filter (kept the stock cover), and HD tuner. I am very pleased with the results.
I have Vance & Hines Big Shots Staggered with SE Air Cleaner w K&N filter and a PowerCommander III (PCIII). You will need a 3 hr Dyno to tune the bike if you go this route. I am extremely happy with the set up although I myself would like to go with some V & H fishtails someday.
