ide go power commaner(inexpesive) or thundermax(expensive),you can tune either yourself with out a dyno,just laptop(dyno makes it eaisier),if you make a change down the road,you can change settings(both are alot user freindly than the racetuner too)

Here's why....TTS made the SERT up until a few years ago. The TTS utilizes the stock ECM, and there's nothing to leave on the bike. Several vendors can set you up with a base map given your bike and your mods, you can then adjust the map if necessary using the included software. Unlike the PC or the Thundermax, you also get to keep your knock sensor. In my opinion, the dealer's "stage 1 download" is worthless. The bike will still run too lean. Mine did.
The TTS is $450, and you'll never outgrow it. You'll have complete control over your ECM.

Been real happy with my PCV-great installation instructions and on the phone tech help that can't be beat if you buy it from FuelMoto. Another thing,,washed the bike and afterwards it wouldn't start/run. Ran the gamut trying to find out why and found that the PCV got water INSIDE of it-shook it out, took a blow dryer to it, and now good as new! Tough stuff in my opinion

Can you properly configure and tune your bike with a TTS without a Dyno machine - or do you need to have it Dyno'd? I mean, how good of a tune can you get... How do you know where to add or lean out the fuel, adj the timing... Or is it like a PC, you put in the closest map that matched your bike or pay to have it tuned?

No, you don't "need" a dyno any more than any other tuner "needs" one. With any of the available systems, a dyno tune is going to give you the best results, even the auto tuners.
With the TTS, you get a base map based on your configuration, you then use the VTune software to tweak it. It takes a bit more patience than the auto tuners, but it gives you complete control over your bike, and shows you your VE everywhere in the rev range.
I'm waiting until my build is broken in to start playing with it, but I ride with several people who have got major work in their motors who use the TTS and have never been on a dyno. Check out their website for exactly what the system does for you.

When I was doing my '08 Deluxe, I did alot of research, as you are doing. In the end, I went with the SE Super Tuner, installed & dynoed at my local H-D dealer. Here's why. When it comes to the heart of your harley, it only makes sense to use the tuner that is specifically made for your bike. If you plan on having your harley as long as the good Lord will let you, you will be better off in the "long run". Like the guy said, H-D doesn't stand for cheap. The way I see it, if you can afford your harley, you can afford to have it running to its optimum. How much is "peace of mind" worth to you? RIDE ON BRO!!!!!!!!
