Default Polyester pants melt on new pipes

Well I installed my new Hooker Troublemaker pipes this weekend and they looked great and sound better. But I was coming to work this morning and I guess they stick out a little further then my stock pipes did. My baggy work polyester pants touched them when I put my feet down at the lights and melted my pants on a spot about 2'' by 2'' on the top pipe. I thought of maybe using Easy Off, I mean it gets burnt on stuff off in your oven right :- ) does anyone know any other ideas that have worked for them? Has anyone used EO or know if it'll harm the finish on the pipes or not? thanks

I have the same problem with my pipes (Exile Shotguns). However, it didn't leave a mark on my pipes. I've got at least 4 pairs of pants with burns or holes in them. I ended up just lowering the bike to get my legs further out!

I would try a magic eraser, they work for everything else. If nothing works, just use a wrap to cover them up, it would look sweet with a brass tape over black pipes with a little left at the end!

You guys need to get some leggings. easy on and off, and good protection if you order the hard leather. No more melting pants. Check out AllState leathers

I wear chaps most of the time but there was a time there where I just didn't care, the pipes looked too good!

I ware chaps when it's cold enough but didn't take the time this morning. Are the leggings like chaps? good call on the magic eraser I'll give that a try. I'll not need to wrap them because I will get the melted spot cleaned.

I can't understand why this is such a problem? I've had a few women over the years get the old boot poo and other stuff on the pipes...if it went ON when the pipes were hot, all I've done is ride the bike, get the pipes hot, and stop and wipe it OFF...
no products needed, and never a residue left on the pipes...as the old timer told me back in the 60's, "it ain't rocket science, son...it's a Harley."

I'll try that today and I agree, if it went on hot it should come off hot. I've had a chicks tennis shoe melt on my old pipes and that didn't come off cold hot or other wise. I had to work my @ss off to get that off. thanks

use a real copper penny and scrape it off
the penny is softer than the chrome and will not scratch it. I would however do it hot if I could..
