View Poll Results: Have you ever been screwed by a HD dealer on repairs/maintenance
It's very unlikely that all 3 could've been bad at the same time...How much grease does a steering neck bearing need anyway??? If you put the grease gun to it it will use up a whole tube of grease but where does it go??? you guess it...NOWHERE...there is a big void between the upper and the lower bearing and it is useless... Tire??? $100.00 $25.00 for an indy to install it if you took the wheel to them...Brakes....Can anyone say ..Manual...Cuz... you need to do some of this stuff yourself or just pay the piper...I have a buddy that did the same but i converted him...Now he does it just about all himself...The shop is gonna make money some way or another....Up to you if it will be you or not...

I was pissed yesterday after the dealer charged me $102 to mount and balance (not on the bike) a set of tires to rims. No labor, I took them off and put them back on the bike.

Couple months ago I needed tires...dealer wanted $560 with new front brakes. Thats $480 for both tires and they do it all, plus another $80 for brakes.
Called Dennis Kirk and paid $210 for both tires to the door in 3 days, stock lops and $40 for Lyndal Z pads.
Indy charged $120 to R&R,M&B new tires, said I didn't need brakes yet,, so saved $150 Indy VS dealer...plus I know they would have done the brakes......even If the didn't need it.
Almost got hit with a $1,000+ bill for a 10k for a Sportster. First time at the stealer but never again. $330 for the 10k, they called later and said the wheel bearing was bad and it would be dangerous to keep riding on it. Also said both tires needed replacement. I said yes to the bearing, no to the $500 for the tires. Ended up still paying almost $700 for the 10k and wheel bearing (s). They said I gave them the okay to replace both. Got a new Dunlop front tire and tube mail order for $80, local Honda shop mounted and balanced (off the bike) for $20. Back tire was getting low, but still had another season left. All this really for nothing - sold the bike a month later to another Harley shop, they could care less about the recent service work. Live n learn. Now need to find an indy for my Deluxe.

So true! The service history won't ever result in a higher trade in price from a dealer. The only one who really cares about the service is the the place taking your money from you.
10-4 on this forum saving money. I did all the 1K service myself and bike is good. saved me $330.00. I will continue to do all the work myself and not get screwed.
Dang, I have my indy do what I can't. My local HD dealer closed its doors last month Three stores down the tubes! I gotta go across the state line 20 miles to see a HD dealer.
No free lunch at stealer, no free KY either.
