Changing Only Mufflers~Do You Need Fuel Management or High Flow Filter??

Hi guys, I have a 2010 Heritage and the staggered pipe look is starting to grow on me....If I only change the mufflers, do I need a fuel management systems and or a high flow kit? I hear conflicting reports... Also, it is an easy install? In other words I do not have to worry about the sensors.......is it the only loosening the muffler clamp, taking the old one off and putting the new one on? Also, does anyone have a suggestion on a good sounding pipe... thanks....

The general rule is this: More air in & more air out=tuning needed

Mufflers only=no

Mufflers are very easy to swap. "They" recommend new clamps, but I've used mine on 2 different swaps and they work fine. I also use copper high heat silicone sealer to stop any leaking, which leads to decel pop and possible discoloration at the joint.

Good sounding is all relative, I prefer Vance and Hines and BUB. Quiet baffles with any muffler give a nice low growl at idle but allow bark on accel.

How Ya liking that new Heritage. I myself am giving a slight consideration to jumping back on a Softy. It's a big maybe, but stranger things have happened.

+1 on the rush...I got a pretty good deal on them but even without the deal they are fairly cheap and sound great

Go with Rush, they are great. I would recommend a high flow and a download, but many have not and say they have no problems. They do not "slip on" like they say, but still not very difficult. Takes a little muscle and wiggle to get the stock off and the new ones on.

Twisted125 is selling Rush 2" baffles for $150. Great deal and I can say because I have them that you will not regret it.

Seems like everybody likes V & H or Rush,. My H Dealer only had D & D slip on's so that's what I got on my 07 Fatboy. I have been told by several people they sound good, but to me they sound to mid/low. not just low sound.

I talked to you before, I have the same 2010 Heritage as you and I ordered slash cut staggered mufflers through my local Harley dealer. I ordered Drag Specialties two inch but they came through marked as Cycle Shack. ( I think they bought out Drag Specialties ) These mufflers are great. They sound typical Harley. The installation would be simple, but the stock mufflers were a real bear to pull off of the exhaust pipes. They will tell you that you will have to buy different muffler clamps, NOT TRUE, the stock clamps work perfect and the installation is easy once you get the stock mufflers off. If you need a part number , I think I can probably find it. You don't need to change anything , it runs fine.

I've talked to two dealers and Rush. They all said that the slip-ons will require no tuning. I'm picking up my new mufflers in the morning and will have them on tomorrow. Looking forward to the change. I bought Rush with 1 3/4" baffles. The quality of them looks great and they have a great selection of baffles.
