Thumbs up

Unless you just like Dunflop there are plenty of other brands out there and alot of better prices. I have been runnin Shinko tires for almost 2 years now (34000 miles after the stock Dunflops) and I get just as good mileage and much better handling because of softer compound. Shinko was Yokohama back in the day witch supplied many bike brands with OEM tires. Look at BikeBandit.com for sizes and $$.

Greetings,

Try a metric dealer. That's a common size tire and while it'll still be a Dunlop, it just won't say Harley-Davidson on it. You might end up getting it cheaper there.

If I recall, the price I was quoted from my dealer this spring for that tire was in the area of $425-$450, installation was still extra.
I was able to get both my front and rear replaced from a metric dealer for that price.

I have looked at the Shinko 009 ravens wich are the hardest of their compounds. E-bay-$110 for 200/50-17. Also (I know retread) Tamahawks. When I had my GSXR1000 and 3 other bikes I tried Bridgestone battle ax Bt-02, Bt-014,bt-020,bt-010(dual compound), Michelin Pilot powersand Dunlop 207s. All got about 4,500 to 5,000 miles due to compound and my riding. I have no problem with other brands, lol. Just thought I'd see if anybody else got lucky on a cheaper tire with better milage. Thanks for all the input.

I am running a 200/55 17 Avon Cobra. I have roughly 6500 miles and is now at 5/32. Handles well and looks like I may get 10k out of it. Just some info if looking for a alternative.
