Default Is there something like a Carfax for bikes?

Hello Softail friends. I am considering buying a cheap bagger to have around and am looking at older bikes. Is there something like a Carfax for bikes to see if any of the bikes I'm considering have been through any major damage?

Mark

Someone will correct me if wrong but I am quite certain the answer is no. I looked for similar in the past and came up short. Consensus is anything short of minor damage will total a bike so a bikefax report wouldn't show anything or the database would be very small.

Some people will build new bikes on totaled VINs but those should have salvage titles so you will know if that's the case.

Auto Check does bikes...but I would not trust it for the reason noted above, plus, my buddy used it to check out a bike he bought on ebay earlier this year and it came back clean...then learned later it was stolen in 02...then stolen again and had three different VIN's tied to it. All three came back clean on Auto Check and DMV impounded the bike...ebays buyer protection plan insurance is paying off the claim because of the circumstances (just settled it Friday)...in the meantime, my buddies been without a bike since Feb. Shortly before this, he was wrecked by a cager who totalled his bike, and almost him.

I don't trust carfax either. I bought a truck for my son that had a clean carfax report, but we found out after we bought it that it had flood damage.

Yes you can I bought a o6 Night Train at an auction and wanted to know how many owners had owned the bike, went to car fax and paid $29.00 for one I enter the VIN and it returned original sale date of the bike and how many owners had owned the bike and where it was registered. Thats about it.

I work at a Credit Union and I use AutoCheck on cars truck etc all the time when I close on PP loans- When my husband bought his bike I did an autocheck on it and it wouldn't pull anything up at all. It says it's only for cars.

Along this same line is there a way to get the "window sticker/build sheet" for a bike?? I know you can do this with some cars but never seen one for bikes...For those who buy used would be nice to get some of the paperwork on the bike
