I can see over but it is high enough to put the wind over my head.

Don't have pics yet but is on my '03 Heritage. I have the silver/black bike so it looks awesome.

OldBoldPilot's pics pretty much look just like my set up.

Say, OldBoldPilot, how are you mounting your GPS? I had mine inside but had to remove it due to the tri-pouches. From the pic, i can't quite see where/how you connected yours.
Here are a couple of pics. Apologies for the poor quality -- taken in the garage with my iPhone. The mount is attached to the bars about an inch in from the clamp, and the ram arm extends to the left almost parallel to the bars. The pic was taken with the bars at full lock left. Hope this helps.

Thanks. You have a different pedestal/mounting set up than mine, but I think mine will work there. I had trouble on the right side with all the cables and brake wire. I want to avoid putting it up high by the clutch if I can.

Now I need to figure out what I'll put in those pouches. I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Heading home now to take it for a ride - warm and sunny for a change.

Smile Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing

Just got the Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing installed on my 2005 Fatboy Firefighter Special Edition. I love the looks, installation was a breeze. The only issue I ran into was with clearance around the headlight, I have the extended visor trim ring on my headlight and it kept me from being able to tilt the fairing forward without hitting the headlight so with the 5" sheild I was getting a lot of wind in my face. I changed back to the OE headlight ring and was able to move the fairing forward making it more vertical and it really helped. I had my local body shop match the paint on the bike and paint the fairing to match. Great product, great price. Wish they would offer chrome/polished brackets instead of black. Found out later the the brackets from the Fats/Slims windshields will work on the Batwing Fairing.
I will take a few pics and post them soon.

The angle really makes a difference with these , I think that is what has been causing the RK installs problems since their brackets dont have the adjustment like ours.

I dont know why Memphis does not make it an option to choose the polished brackets or the black. They are both the same as long as they are for the Memphis Fats or the fairing. I called the customer service before ordering and got the info and then ordered the polished / stanless brackets for my bike. I though they looked better with the chrome forks.

Hi Everyone - new to this forum.

I,m in the UK and have just ordered the memphis batwing for my RK custom.
I see supernova01 has an RK custom so Ithought i,d reply.
When I callled Memphis to check the application list for a custom they said the only reason it was not listed was due to the fact the custom does not have a screen (read mounting bolts) on from new.
I have a screen now fitted to my RK custom by buying the HD kit for a few dollars.
Supernova01 also mentioned the nacelle. The custom does have a small "fairing/air scoop" fitted into the nacelle but because the memphis batwing has no inner, it will fit.

Got mine though good old E-bay from BK-Rider. It cost me about $90 to ship everthing to the UK inc screen, strip and wind deflectors.

As soon as it arrives I will take some photo's and let you all know.

Regards,
Rowle.

Just finished installing a new Memphis Shades Batwing onto my 07 RK Custom so thought i'd post a few pics and a few notes incase anyone else wants to do the same.
$310 delivered to the UK. (from BK Rider ; CA)
Fits RK custom even though it says it doesn't !
30 minutes to install.
Finish is excellent - no paint needed if your bike is black.
Inside of fairing is also excellent finish - smooth black.
Well Built.
Fitting kit is well made and easy to install.
5" screen in pics is a little too low so i've got a 7" on order now (i,m only 5' 7" tall as well).

I looked around for ages at what fairing to buy but decided on this due to cost and it seems to do the job nicely. I,ve installed a small i-pod stereo but the speakers are not seen in the pics.

Default Memphis shade batwings

Excellent info folks. Ive been looking at Memphis shades for my 05 Road king. I was wondering how this lexan material held the paint and if it was sturdy. Its the same stuff the windshields are made of isn't it?

Yep, it's the same material as the windshields made of -When you have it painted you need to make they use a "flex additive". My painter said with this "flex" stuff, there shouldn't be any issue with the paint wearing or anything...

They look really sweet when painted to match your bike.
