READ IT CAREFULLY
Pudding bowls, Nazi helmets and DOT-approved half helmets each have their place in the pantheon of skid lids, but for our money, nothing looks better or feels more comfortable than an old-fashioned open face helmet. Trouble is, finding an open face that doesn’t make you look like an astronaut is extremely difficult. NOS helmets are one solution to this problem, but their numbers are dwindling rapidly. When you can find one of these circa ‘60s brain buckets, they are usually so moth-eaten and/or overpriced you can’t justify putting one on your head.

Enter the Biltwell novelty helmet. Our open face design is stylish, comfortable and classic. Our seamless injection-molded ABS plastic outer shell is form fitting and super flexible. Because our non-DOT-approved helmet has no expanded polystyrene (EPS) inner shell, it fits close to the skull—nobody wants to look like a bobble head doll when they’re riding their chopper. The open-cell foam padding inside our helmet features a moisture wicking fleece Lycra liner for cool, dry comfort.

Go garage saleing...especially to farm auctions and things like that. I picked up a couple old lids for 5 bucks a piece, the one i wear is red and blue with silver lightning bolts and stars all original. Wet sanded and buffed them both and they shine like new, both dated in the 70's.
