@ DynaJ, maybe I do a little more research than you and maybe I don't. Have a look here http://www.brcustomcycles.com/Ape_Hangers.php Plenty of custom built apes on this page for < or = $400.

Or have a look here http://www.vindikta.com/inventor/bars/ A few on this page also < $400. Crazy talk? Don't think so. But I would like to see some examples of what you are talking about. Always like to see new stuff.
@gregeinsc: Which size Flying Apes did you go with, and how was the quality of the blems before you sent them in to be powder-coated?

They are 14" 1.25". I am 5'6" and somewhere in the 200lb range. Worked out all my life. Have to wear XL gear up top to fit my chest. But have to deal with the arms being too long which is to say, I have short arms. These bars felt good. Not mounted to the bike yet, but they just felt right. Going to mount them with HD part# 56789-05. I looked them over pretty good and I couldn't find a mark on them.

Br customs..well I like to ride my bike I'm not going to sit around and wait 3-4 months to get "special" bars..time is money in my book. Burt hey if you have time to measure your arms, torso, by all means spend 400.00 on those.

Vinditka..I thought I was posting in the softail forum? they make the majority od their bars for touring models, And if you want to see those "raw" bars let me know I will be at the Long Beach swap meet Sunday they are always there..

My bars? well they are nothing custom but I haven't seen another softail with them in my area.10 inch chrome Klockwerks klip hangers

These are my Carlini 12" Gangsters on 1.5" risers and are 1.25" diameter. I think the 14" "look" better but these fit me very well. They are really well made also.

They aren't evil apes, but they are very very similar (10" Todd Cycle Strip Bars). it might give you an idea...
