Kleinmond is a small holiday resort town on the south coast of South Africa about a 120 km from Cape Town. We have a holiday cottage a few meters away from the sea. Almost every weekend my husband and I take our 2 motorbikes and ride the 120km scenic route through the wheat fields of the Overberg area. Our hometown is called Worcester and is situated in the Winelands of the Western Cape. The Blue Crane is South Africa's national bird and they can be seen along the roadside. A relaxed ride will await you along curving hillside roads, lots of trees, big dams and grazing sheep. Then you take the Kleinmond turn-off and soon you will see the most beautiful sea-side town you have ever seen.... cradled by the blue ocean on the one side and a majestic mountain on the other.
At sunset we sit upstairs on the balcony, overlooking the blue waters and listen to the whales playing with their new-born calves in the bay - flapping whale tails indicating their locations in the big ocean!!
I will post a few pictures to those who are interested in joining us for the drive and enjoy the friendly town and the best fish-and-chips the South coast has to offer in Kleinmond by the sea!!
