Default To Northeast Ohio in November.

Anyone here think I might be a little crazy taking a ride to the snowbelt of northeast Ohio this weekend? Weather looks like it might be good. Too early for snow. I used to live there and am giong to visit. Part of me says "Ride" the other part says "DRIVE" Got all the cold weather gear so thats not an issue. Time is more an issue. Help me to decide. Leaving this Friday morning from Columbia, SC headed to Madison, OH. comming home Sunday.

You're right........there's a reason you moved south!!! That said, it is supposed to creep up into the 60's this weekend and into next week.

If I do the interstate (most likely) I'll be on I77 clear up to I271 then I90 into Madison. I'll be going through Cambridge but cant say the time. Leaving Columbia somewhere around 5 or 6 am to beat Charlotte morning rush. Beckley or Charlston by noon? Cambridge another 2.5 to 3 hours? Madison by 5 or 6 pm. Hope to make it through the I271 evening rush before it gets bad or stay back till it slows. Comming home Sunday wont be a problem. Been paying close attention to weather channel. Brother in Madison says Im crazy.

I will most likely be riding this weekend -- have to take advantage of the "warm" weather in Northeast Ohio whenever we can. I always try to avoid riding anywhere near "dawn" or "dusk" this time of year, mostly because of the deer population in Ohio. Also, it looks like you will be be in the I271/I90 area during the evening rush hour AND since we just observed Daylight Saving Time, right at dusk. I don't think you are crazy for planning the trip, but my advice is to be on high-alert for rush-hour/daylight/and deer traffic issues. Good luck and have a safe trip.

Im very well aware of the deer situation. Lived in Oh 49 years. We got em here in SC too. The better half wants to "Drive" I'll know for sure when I wake up. Im already packed both vehicles checked and ready for which ever one we bring.

The weekend weather in Ohio shouldn't be a problem, the wife and i are riding from Columbus to Toledo Sunday. I-77 in WVA is another story, got caught in a sleet/snow squal 15 miles south of Beckley 3 weeks ago coming back from Biketoberfest, not fun ! The weather in the mountains this time of year is too unpredictable for me.
