went in 01 and stayed at the Chip...definitely a party. No sleep. Lots of boobs...and none of them anything you really want to see. But seriously fun and lots of laughs!

I'm going again this year, but staying at Deadwood so I can sleep in a bed and take a shower by myself instead with a 100 other guys.

Well more details on this trip. Staying four days before the rally starts in the Black hills. Then staying three days in a campground about 20 minutes east of Sturgis to do the rally stuff. Working on all my rides and to/from routes.

Been to Sturgis once (crowds, traffic and idiots) are plentiful.....but I like to ride and there are to many great places in the west to stay in one place....especially Sturgis....

I guess i will never understand the concept of going to the same place every year...unless you've already rode PCH, Blue Ridge Parkway, Million Dollar Hiway and have been to the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Forest, Key West, New Orleans.....just to name a few.....so very few.....

Same here, I like staying at the Comfort Inn in Deadwood, it's a nice place and the ride into Sturgis is nice and fun.
The Chip is fun, but I wouldn't want to stay there the whole time unless I had a trailer or motor-home.

Got to go thru Custer State Park. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Spearfish Canyon, Deadwood, Lead, Devils Tower, Badlands, Sundance. Unfortunately too much to see in one trip. Some of the best riding you will ever do. Can't wait to go back, hopefully in 2010, but not sure yet.

i went this year. sturgis.com and sturgismotorcyclerally.com were a lot of help.
definitely figure out what kind of environment you want for lodging and look for that. i personally like some peace and quiet at night and wouldn't have been happy at the chip or glencoe. but i did buy a pass to the chip so i could hang out, see the shows, etc. i chose days end campground, which was pretty mellow, had good food, clean showers and laundry. its also right off the freeway entrance so it was easy to head out for rides. plenty of people on the area rent out their homes too, so besides hotels and camping, there's also houses to consider.
