hey guys. n ladies.
im currently trying to finish my garage into a small bike shop. its a single car garage. im painting, building benches, cabinets, the whole works.
i want to finish the floor in that two part epoxy they sell at canadian tire.
probably wallmart for the majority here. lol.
has anyone used this stuff and how durable is it. im asking cause you can buy it for 90 bucks. but to get a "pro" to do it costs 1000. and maybe a different product? the prep time is tedius and must be super clean and has to be scuffed up for it to stick. is this whats costing an extra 900 or do they use a superior product?
what do you guys think?
what have you guys used?
all opinions would be great.

Try to put all the floor items on casters so you can move them around. I have all my benches and heavy tools on locking casters, it makes it easier to find parts that you drop on the floor....
If it's the same thing I used (two part with the paint flakes you toss in), it worked out fantastic for me. It seems to be very durable so far. I have had in down for about a year and a half with no ill effects. It is very critical to have a clean, clean, clean surface for it to adhere properly. My kit (from the local Home Depot) came with a cleaning solution mix and an etching solution mix. I also used a solution of 4 parts water and one part muriatic acid before beginning. It was not required, but I figured it couldn't hurt. All total, I spent about $140.00 for two kits and a throw away roller and pan. Good luck
I just completed my new bike garage and used the GarageTrac modular tiles from BigFloors. I am very pleased with the results and ease of installation. My garage is 14 X 16. Here is a pic of how they look. Jerry

I just put down the 2 part epoxy floor paint. As suggested earlier; make sure you do an acid etching on the concrete floor. The prep is the important part. Durable and easy to do yourself on a Saturday, if you etch the floor the night before.

Very nice!! Are the tiles installed with an adhesive?

No adhesive. They have hook and tabs and you just lay them down and either use a rubber mallet to lock them in place or your heels, which is what I used. GarageTrac flooring is made by RaceDeck but is a slightly lighter duty tile. Here is a link to their installation video if interested in the how to: http://www.racedeck.com/install.html

That looks good, makes me want to cover up my epoxy floor.
