Default RE: 2007 Tranny problem!

Lemon laws dont apply to rec.vehicles.Only way they will replace entire bike is if you have more problems and are on their butts about it.Professional help may be needed. This problem has the MOCO scratching their heads Im sure. Why dint this come up during the years testing?Sounds to me like an assy line problem or individual on line.Could also be something as simple as shimming, improper torquing, bad vendor shippment. My bike was suppose to be delivered 2 weeks ago and still no show.I hope this tranny thing is the cause. The glowing pipes is because these bikes are so lean, unless timing is off.The glowing pipes will cause valve issues next. Are these tranny issues on the touring models only?Is this a YORK problem.?If they dont get this under control, the 07s re going to the EDSELS and will be highly discounted to move them. The thought of backing out of my new one is starting.

I have a 2007 RG with the same problems, whining trans and some sort of slapping, knocking sound. I brought the bike in for the 1K service. They will be looking into the noise issue and also replacing my inner fairing which arrived with scratches. I the the MOCO has some serious QA problems. I'll let you know what they find.

FYI.. I have an 07 RK on order, due 9/14. Would be my first Harley. Just spoke to a guy who has an 07 RK and has had nothing but transmission problems, very unhappy. Time to re-evaluate my order.

I just got an 07 RK and on the ride home I also noticed a 5th gear wine, but it never has sounded like someone beating on it or a coffee can of rocks. I had test drove the bike 30 miles before buying it, but never got above 50 because of breakin and so never got above 4th. On the ride home I finally hit 50 mile on the odometer and got to go 60 mph and grabbed 5th... oh the wining.
You're getting wine out of your tranny and you're complaining? Is it red or white? What kind of cheese goes with it?
By the way, to all who think 20w50 motor oil is too light for the transmission; 20w50 motor oil is about the same viscosity as 80w140 gear lube. However, I would use gear lube for gears and motor oil for motors. But the 20w50 is not a problem in a Harley transmission.

I had a bolt come out in my transmission. Was telling them it did not sound right. They just told me to break it in bring it back at 1000. Well they found the bolt have now changed their tone. Now I am just waiting on the parts. Had to have the clutch assembly changed out.

I just got home from my dealer. They have had my bike since Monday morning. The noise coming from mine has them scratching their heads. It was fine for about 150 miles after they put new tranny in. Now it is slaping something in 6th gear at about 2500 rpm's till about 3000 then I am going so fast I don't hear it. If I maintain that speed I will hear a siren shortly. As far as the red exhaust. They said they could not do anything about that and keep the EPA happy.

Hello I Have a 2007 FLHX with about 600 Miles On it Now.I have had it in Twice for the Transmission Noise and was told to wait untill my 1000 mile check up. that Harley said it was normal....I also have the noise in 6th Gear that sounds Like something in the Motor but I can't be sure It could also Be the transmission . I am a Maintenance supervisor and work with gear boxes every day and If I had a machine that souded Like MY Transmission It would be going back to the vendorrigh away..I am very disapionted with this new Bike. My last Bike a 2002 FLHT was as good a bike as one could ask for The only reason for the new bike was for the 6th speed and 96cc motor...I thought it would be good to get a new Bike with the upgrades I wanted. But now I wish I had just kept the FLHT...OH well I am Just venting I hope Some how that Harley will fix the problems soon.
