Default RE: 2007 Tranny problem!

my take on this,,,,,, first some history,,, my bike was 1 of the first new 07's out there,,,,
no dealer knew what was going on.
Off I went on a long trip,,,1,000 miles,, still no answewrs,,,more rides,,, forum chat, disussin noise,,,
start doing this and that, might help,,,3,000 miles 3 oil brands, no help...4,000 miles,, fuel tune ,down loads, etc
this gave some relief,,but , chatter got reallllll baddd knockin like crazy,,,,,,
to Present,,10,000 miles,, fix is here!!??

Now,,,BIG question,,,, what damage was caused my first 6,000 plus,, Pinging knocking, clanking, chattering, boiling etc,etc miles?
My gut,said "ITS COOKED"

today,07 gone,,gone like a freight train,gone like yesterday!
08 is AWSOME, 2 more years wnt'y,,,, not broken in,, plauged with prob's!!!

to each his own,,, I hope every single one of you resolve all your issues, and soon
join me on the road!
be safe guys!

Pittguy,

I will say that I was aware of the problem before I bought my bike and my dealer assured me that people were just lugging the motor. I bought off on it and only at a thousand miles to start having the thing sound like a bucket of bolts in a can. I was not lugging the motor. That seems to me to be a predetermined and deceptive way for the dealers to manage sales and customers. Once you bought the clattering bucket of bolts all you get from your dealer is "What you talkin about Willis?". Clearly there was a deceptive strategy in place to manage the issue. So while I am greatful that there is a fix in place I am still kind of pissed the MoCo put me and a lot of other people through this. Now that all things seem to be out in the open (or the fixed 08s are out) my dealer seems more than willing to help solve the problems with my bike. I still love my bike but the MoCo is tarnished in my eyes and when asked I do tell people my story. All this being said it is almost time to just enjoy the bike and move on.

The issue all along has been MOCO's denying the issues. Had they said "We have a problem and we are working on it" we would all been alot happier. At the same time it would have forced them to do the upgrades for free. What's really happened is that we unknowningly have been their beta testers for this new configuration. They took our feedback, internalized it, and brought out a "New Feature" which at a minimum, caused the complaints to stop. Microsoft does this all the time. Right or wrong, it is what it is, for us that's really unfortunate.

Hey Rick,

I looked at your Photo Album and the 07 was a really sweet looking ride!!! Sorry to hear of your troubles.

A request. How about a picture of your new love??? Put a nice shot of her in your album to update us all.

That deceptive strategy is still in place, the IDS showing up in the HDaccessories was NO accident. And wasn't it kinda strange the IDS is a big sales pitch on their 08 tour models,"Improves Drive Quality By Reducing Drive-line Noise", gee what models have had the biggest complaint and with what major issue (clatter), alias drive-line noise?Bottom line the MOCO has weaseled out of theirobligation to fix these clatter wagons andare continuing to do so by throwing the mob a bone (IDS). Some people will buy into anything!

Surging oil heads , failing final drives, crappy servo assisted brakes...the list goes on and on and on. For you who have owned beemers, you know what I'm talking about. Cracking frames, crappy voltage regulators, hot moltan fire under your ass - no matter what speed, head shake...the list goes on and on. For those that have owned Honda's, you know what I'm talking about. Finally, For those that haven't experienced the IDS, kindly wait till you do. It's a fantastic "enhancement". Yes, the MOCO was caught off guard and we paid the price, it's not the first time for me. I'm healthy and so is my family. I'm going to enjoy what's left of my riding years and put the rest behind me. My only regret is that I didn't buy my bike at Rick's dealer and claim that I was his long lost brother!!
