It was in one of the magazines, there is some slack in the gears. The BakerF6F fix it suppost to take a lot of that slack out of 5th gear and take the whine out.

HD charges $305.00 for the IDS and then there's the expense of the installation, if you don't self install. Average expense of the upgrade parts/laboris around $500,00 in my area and the shop won't guarantee it cures the clatter or 5th. gear whine, in fact mine told me it was never intended for the clatter cure.

Some good reviewshere from folks that have had theIsolated Drive System installed.Could the fix for the so-called, "noise problem" be at hand? Only time will tell (and feed-back from the herd). If it IS the panacea, HD should bear some of the cost but I guess I'm dreaming in technicolor, eh?Here is the detail........

Default RE: 2007 Tranny problem!

Talked to HD yesterday about my chadder box SG, was told for a mere $350.00 I could buy a "ride enhancement kit" to quiet my noisy transmission. What the he**!! The yeven had the nerve to compare this to my new backrest, "this will enhance your ride just like your backrest does". Wake up HD! I chose to enhance my ride with a new backrest, I didn't choose to have a noisy, unsafe transmission to have to "enhance". I called the dealer and received many different stories..service manager claimed to have never heard about the tranny problem, salesman said they were very aware of it but all SG's do it so don't worry and finally the owner told me he was unaware of this but will personaly look at my bike. My big beef, after spending $20,000.00 + dollars on the "best bike ever built" why should i cover the expense to quiet HD's problem? Although the do refuse to call it a problem. I've heard so many excuses and stories that I don't know what to believe! All I do know is as time goes on I become more unsure of my bike and must admit a bit weary of riding it. I really don't want to be the one who's tranny locks up and I end up scattered down the road just for HD to finally say "gentlemen we have a problem". Bottom line is I will not quit until HD gives me full credit of the amount I spent on my SG chadder box toward the purchase of an 08. Another thing, what happened to the saying if it's not broke don't fix it? Why would HD change anything on th 08's if the 07's were so wonderful? As I have detered 2 potential friends from purchasing a new HD I hope those who have the tranny problem will do the same by telling their story. What a disappointing experience for this first time new HD buyer, perhaps I should stick to buying used so someone else can get all of the "ride enhancement" products on the bike.LOL!!!!!!!!!

MOCO and their stealer's have always known that many of the 07's have a problem, what problem, an obnoxious noise problem, that's what. Something Doesn't have to have a complete mechanical failure to be a problem as many here in this forum have suggested. If anyone of you bought a new car truck, wheel barrel for that matter, and it had a noise like these 07 Clatter Wagons have, or even so much as squeak, you'd be all over the dealer, and the dealer would most likely fix it. Butnot MOCO, they'll just wait to see if a massive mechanical failure will happen, and are hoping when it does the bike will be out of warranty.Oh sure they've thrown us a bone, the IDS, in hopes of quieting the crowed, but at who's expense? Again at the owners expense, just like the oils, exhaust, fuel management systems that many said would cure the problem, and didn't. Like I've said before the IDS may quieten the clatter, but it won't fix the problem and MOCO, will have weaseled out of their responsibility with warranty and their stealer's will make a ton of money off the IDS. MOCO's New philosophy, if you can't hear the clatter there's nothing wrong!

CT_Duke will be forever known as the ALL TIME champ of Mega Thread creation. I challenge everyone to find a bigger one! However, He's no longer part of the HD family. He tossed his ride on the clatter scrap heap a long time ago! Oh, I forgot to mention that the little moco played a bit of a roll.

There was someone way back in the thread some where who actually copied all the posts and then sent it to MOCO, who reportedly laughed at it. Moco monitors this forum as well as others with their trolls, and ever so often you'll hear one of them speak out and defend MOCO and these junks they're building these days.
