I have seen all types of suggestions for ATF in the Primary. Everything from type F to mobil 1 synthetic ATF. What makes the difference what type anyone is using. Or is it another "what the hell difference does it make," moment??
I have tried Dexron and Type F in my '08 Ultra. The only thing I noticed was the clutch would grab a bit earlier in the release using the Type F.
As I prefer a smoother clutch release, I stuck with the Dexron stuff. And ATF almost completely eliminated the first-gear "clunk."
I'll be going to ATF when my RL stash I got cheap runs out. I have 8 qts of ATF from my Yukon sitting on the shelf. One or two quarts of the RL left so it will be a long time.

I use the red kind. That way I know what's leaking.
