Default primary chain tensioner

I know there's normal wear on this.. so does anyone know off hand when it should be inspected / replaced ?

I have an 08 FLHTC (electra glide classic) with 28,000 miles on her... and I haven't checked it yet.

Also..

How about the cam chain tensioner? I'm wanting to go gear driven, but was thinking I'd wait until the bike is out of warranty.. which will be next April (2 years). How often should this be inspected / replaced?

On a 2008 you have the automatic primary chain tensioner and the new setup for the cam chains. You should be find on both, but if you want to check just pull off the primary cover or the cam cover.

But don't the tensioners themselves have wear?

When I had my 03 motor rebuilt the mechanic showed me the primary chain tensioner and it was pretty well worn out.
