I do my 48 like this. And I run STD heads 10-1 comp. Line up timing marks in timing hole, turn distributer full advance counter clockwise and set points with a closed in half pc of notebook paper. Works great for me never a back fire from high revs to closed throttle and easy starts. I prime at least 3 kicks before keying on for spark.
I st the points like that because as soon as they break they spark so timing pretty much has to b dead on. I got tired of doing all the crazy measurements I use to do my triuphs like this to.
