Default Hello from Arizona

I'm new here and thought I'd share my ride with you. It's a 1950 FL. I've updated it to be more reliable. I now have a Mallory electronic ignition, an alternator, S & S Super E, gel cell battery, hydraulic clutch, primary belt drive, stainless steel hub, wheels, and spokes, halogen headlights, (can't run that shit with a generator) LED tombstone tail light. I'm still in need of a seat that doesn't hurt my back. I don't like the looks of the stock ones. But I'm thinking a solo with 3" springs. I don't want to spend $300 and do a bunch of welding and still not be comfortable. Any suggestions?

I have always wanted a Pan, especially a 48 or 49. My Dad had a 48 but traded it the next year for a 49. Iirc he and his riding buddies were doing something and broke one of the rocker arms on the 48. Being none of them were very mechanical he decided to trade it with the broken rocker arm. The 48 was a 74 ci but he had to go down to 61 ci on the 49 because of the bad trade. He traded the 49 in a few years later on a car when he got married. What was he thinking.

My cousin wrote an article a few years ago about visiting my Dad for his local Hog chapter or something like that. Dad noted that the modern HDs are a lot smoother, as he did when I gave him a ride on the Deuce. One thing he my cousin Jerry got wrong in the article is that his "boys" do not ride Harleys. I am his only son with a bike, let alone a Harley. I am including the bad scan I have article, which includes the receipt for the 48 Pan. Out the door $936.95 on 7/29/48. This includes the free spotlights from the dealer, aw the good ol' days.

Anyone have a video/audio of a panhead somewhere on this forum you could direct me to? I had one with my boyfriend in the late 60's. Yes it is a sound like no other and I still miss it. It felt more right than my own heartbeat. Awesome.

Actually they make LEDs now that will work for 6-volt generator systems...
Re: seat... Not sure what you don't like about the original solo tractor seats, but the pogo system is the most comfortable system I think MoCo developed and abandoned when they went to the frame mounted seats.

BTW, nice looking ride

Here is a second vote for the comfort of the stock pogo seat.

I have a later model Prostreet Hardtail. Tried 3 inch springs, 5 inch springs and wound up witll a no spring gel foam seat.

The small springs dont work good if you are a big guy. Bumps were actually worse and the seat squirms around on those lottile springs.

Some guys use shocks from mountain bikes on the seat.

Like I said, the stock pogo on my pan is really comfortable and wont ever change it.
