So this has been discussed before but i thought i would see if there were any fresh opinions from actual users of stainless steel reusable oil filtors like the PC Racing FLO filtor or the K&P ?

I bought a PC Racing FLO filtor at a really discounted price and with a gift card it only cost me like $58.

I am going to try it on my next oil change but wanted to here posative or negative comments from actual users on there experance using theses types of filtors .

has anyone using these filtors sent oil samples to be tested also and could you share your results.

I have the PC filter and it is wonderful. It includes a magnet to trap the metal shavings that I am thankfully not getting. Mesh is very small and filtering is consistent. The 5 micron filtering nonsense is just that as it is not a consistent 5 microns. The PC is a very good filter. Easy on and off with a wrench, easy to clean and for what it's worth, has incorporated cooling fins which, if they work even a little, certainly can't hurt. Mine is the natural alloy color, and I'm impressed.

 

Just installed mine a few weeks ago so I can't offer any other opinions other than that.

I put the K&P Engineering on 2 years ago. Oil temps stay consistant around 200 to 210 on 2 lane cruises and will get to about 220 on hard interstate runs in summer. Also has the built in magnet. I bought the black and had the machine shop at my indy shave the coating off the cooling fins so it matches the motor.

 

So BODEAN64 did you get a notacible drop in oil temps when you started using the K&P over the oil temps with your previous filtor ?

Shaving the fins to match your motor was a good idea.

 

I noticed a 10 to 15 degree drop using the dash gauge. My temps were running around 230 to 240 in town, sometimes higher. Now it rarely gets above 220 in town and stays between 180 and 200 on the highway.

 

well thats cool to know i have no temp gage on the road king or i would report any change
