I think it's time for the non-smokers to start showing respect to the smokers... for a long time smokers have sat away and did everything reasonable to make em happy... it's now time for the non-smokers to grow up... [&:]

At a bar/restaurant, it's not so much my individual cigarette that's the problem it's when you've got 20-30 of 'em burning at once...and some people when they drink smoke like chimneys...it fogs a place out.The smoking ban started as a proposal that was not forced on us by the state/federal govt. butthat was placed on a ballot and was voted in to law by the people (and pro-smoking business owners and smokers were out voted). I can still smoke whenever I want...just not inside a public/commercial building.

Funny how no one is up and arms protecting minority rights. If I'm a business owner ... and I want to allow smoking ... that should be my right. Smoking is LEGAL. You don't like it ... don't patronize my business. You want to ban smoking in all public/goverment buildings with a vote ... I'll live with that. I own a bar or restaraunt or whatever ... that's private ... until smoking is ILLEGALthe goverment/voters can stay out of how I run my business.

They passed a no smoking ordinance here a while back and its a $500 fine for lighting up in a reaturant...If you run a red light/stop sign here and kill someone, the fine is $82...go figure

Speaking as a smoker, it doesn't bother me. I see the other sides point and have no problem with it.

What about all the gas guzzling cars/suvs...

Not only are they killing me with their emissions but they are killing the whole damn planet!

Just a thought...

Well as some of you know I am coming up on a year of non smoking. But, I do not agree that it should be banned. The only place it should be banned is where children are, as far as adults , they can make there on choices. I also don't agree with laws that make me wear a helmet, seatbelt, ETC. I know it is safer, but damn it,I am 44 years old and do not want nor need the government telling me what to do.

Here in CT there is already a ban in public places... I just heard that they are now going to try and make it illegal to smoke in any vehicle with a child in the vehicle.

Here in Michigan, the company I work for just started charging smokers and extra $100 a month for medical insurance, and that makes sense, why should I pay more for the medical bills of smokers, let them pay for it themselfs.I also don't think that the government should ban smoking anywhere. But I think that some places should cater to the non smokers of the world. I would love to go to a smoke free bar once in a while, and meet smoke free women. But I do not want the government to decide that for anyone. FYI, I just quit smoking about 5 months ago.
