Default RE: Latest on the strike I could find

I have worked many jobs myelf from the age of 16 until now at almost 44.

Only two of which had been union. IMHO what I saw was, keep the union steward happy and screw anybody he didn't like and all was ok. If you were a worthless, break taking, sitting on the hopper all day type person who did nothing, it was near impossible to get rid of them. The interesting thing was, thesame union involved in the Harley situation, was the same union at the Ford dealer I was at in the late 80's.

In my non-union jobs, if I bust a** and do well they do what they can to make me a happy employee.

I personally prefer the later option. However, I just want them to concur and get back to work........ I want my bike.

As a 27 yr memaber of the UA, I've never seenthese examplesall these so called union experts claim happens. Are these examples the non union booklet shows?
Are there POS on jobs? Sure, just like in every aspect of life there are POS. But to keep saying howevery union workersit's on their ass and refuse to do anything, is just plain fantasy.

In your non union job do you get overtime? In your non union job do you get breaks? In your non union job do you have a safety program? In your non union job do you get a decent wage? I could go on................
If so, thank the UNIONS

But with all the posts Biker_RN48 posted, Iam curious about the Canadian Chrome shop. How come everytime I go to HD to pick up a piece of bling, its made overseas?
I would be more than happy to support our Canadians brothers instead of Taiwain[:'(]

There was a time and a place for unions, but it seems these days that unions are more destructive than constructive...
Yep. More, more, more seems to be the credo of modern unions.

Don't ask for any symphathy from me. Their pre strike starting pay is more than I'm making and i've been with my job almost 20 years.(and I am maxed out). I would love to have a 4% raise for the next 3-4 years, and I bet most of us have had to absorbmoreof our healthcare costs.

Edit: The biggest pay raise we have had my 19+ years there has been 3%. and Iwork for a national company (Worldwide, actually), that everyone thinks we make a killing.

The federal labor laws guarantee overtime and breaks. I was a UAW worker a couple different times and they were all about perpetuating their own existence, period. They had their place back in the day ... now they are counter productive.
