This is no indication of the money that you make or the status that you have in your community...Just a friendly poll....Do you ever see spelling on here that just drives you nuts and you just scratch your head....So I thought I would take a poll...Lighten things up a bit on the forum...Please no nasty PM's..My first semester of college, I was on academic probation...It got better 6 years later though..

I have lots of college credits, but no piece of paper to go with em. Itsinteresting that I have always made what I would call an above average income. That is based on my experience and my willingness to learn new skills. I am the proverbial jack of all trades and master of none. I see folks on here that have bad spelling and grammar and it doesn't bother me a bit. To the contrary, it makes me appreciate them even more because they aren't afraid to embrace new technology. My grandfather was illiterate, but a very succesful person. He could only sign his name, yet could figure fairly complex business transactions in his head. He always told me that if he needed some reading and writing done, he paid his lawyer to do it.
I am sending my children to college, if for no other reason than to givethem the advantage in an entry level job. The only reason for that is to insure that they get past the shortsighted deskjockeys that only see what is written on a piece of paper, and not the true worth ofthe person.
If you put two men next to each other, one who has the knowledge learned from getting acollege degree, and one who has gained his knowledge through trial and error, I will choose the second man every time. Give me the choice of someone who finished their college degree at age 40 and he would be the winner.

BBA. But, I didn't go for the education, just the degree & the babes.
I agree with gator. Book smarts usually means no common sense. Self educated, trial & error, life experience is the way to go. My degree didn't get me anything.I have a good job, excellent benefits and a good salary all because I WORKED hardfor it. The degree just got me in the door. Poor spelling does drive me crazy also. I'm not talking about typos but the correct use of the language. I learned that in high school.
Yes, sometimes the spelling gets to me a little too. Sometimes it's just the fact that members don't use the new spell check in the tool bar. I'm sure that even some of the college graduates are spelling challenged.
I do not have a degree. I graduated from high school and the Illinois State Police Academy and have lot's of college credits. Just never finished my degree.
