Default what do you consider a bolt on?

my bike really stands out and is really custom but to me...i gotta shit load a bolt ons....

really the only thing i made are the pipes from scratch,

then alota modified stuff....chopped the cam cover and rear fender (even though ya can't tell sinse it looks just like a nighty fender) headlight mount. tail light sturt combo, horn bracket and tank lift (wich i'm not even sure if i can call that a fabricated part, just bought some metal from home depot and drilled some holes).

anyway, whats your take?? whats a bolt on to you???

let me get this outta the for you pains in the asses.... "a bolt on is anything you bolt on" there i did it...now you don't have too

My understanding ofa bolt-on is a part that doesn't necessitate the modification of the bike to fit. Not something you made, but something you bought. If you modify or fabricate the part yourself, even if it just bolts on when you've finished it, it's custom IMHO...

BTW, saw a few of your bike pics a cpl weeks ago in Fla Crew thread. Excellent job! That's what ownin a bike is about to me. I've not done anything unique yet, just been gettin the essentials outa the way. Time's comin due tho.

I would have to qualify a bolt on as: a part that can be added to the existing bike without special tools (except for a torque wrench) or jigs.

USED to 'think' I knew, BUT the older I git, the MORE I realize, the LESS I know.

Make sense??? GOOD.

I wll say this, it is tremendously easier 'now days', than it was in the late 60's and early 70's. When "Custom Fit" meant, you custom fit it, to YOUR scoot. I STILL considered those, "bolt ons". NOW, I don't worry 'bout it.

There are still some "craftsmen" out there, but few and far, between.
JMFUO, as "ooze-ual".

yeah ya know those words "bolt on" carry a negative conotation in our community yet everything is bolt on....unless its welded on.

unless its fabricated from raw steel and carved, cut, and banged by your own hands...to me, still a bolt on.
