Default Mini Apes

I searched and couldn't find what I was looking for so here it is.

I am looking for some apes to move my bars up about 3 inches or so. I don't need my arms way up in the air but after riding a couple with some apes am starting to want a higher hand position than what I currently have. I don't want to have to get all new cables so was hoping that there are a few out there which work on the Rushmore SG with the stock cables that also provide better hand position than what I have. I have no idea what the stock bars would be if you had to describe them in inches but I am thinking about maybe a 10" ape but not sure how tall those are compared to stock.

I put 10" Yaffe monkey bars on my bike and really like them. My hands sit about even with the top of the fairing. All the stock hydraulic lines fit. The stock wiring will work too if you move them around. I installed Namz wire extensions . No real reason, just because l guess.

Here is an excellent how to video if you change them yourself. Pretty straight forward. Pulling the wires thru the bars is a pain however. Do yourself a favor and buy some polyurethane riser bushings if you go to a taller bar.

These are my bars.

Here's a better angle showing the bar height.

Here are pictures of mine. They are the Harley Davidson mini apes. They have a 12 inch rise. No need to change the brake and clutch lines but I did add the extension for the controls. And absolutely get the polyurethane bushings.

I felt the say way with the stock bars on the Street Glide; I chose the LA Choppers 12" and used all the stock hardware, I also changed to bearings out

12" LA Choppers Twin Peaks. <br/>Uses all the factor cables.

I went with a set of Klockwerks 10" Kipphangers for my bike. Still kept all the stock cables and even allowed room to install HD heated grips internally. Best part about em is they are adjustable so you can get the perfect wrist angle to suite your needs.
