Default Chopped Tour Pak Backrest

I put a new style Harley chopped tour pak on my 2015 RGS. I purchased a new smooth style chopped backrest from Harley for it and the wife hates it. She says it is lower than my detachable backrest and hurts her back. Any suggestions (other than replacing with a king)?

You can put the King style backrest on, it might be more comfortable.

You'll have to drill a few more hole in the lid, but it can be done.

My g/f says the same thing. I got a Mustang chopped backrest so the spots would match my Roadking. Looks cool, she just has to deal with it.

Oh Great...
I just ordered a chopped pack and a mustang pad for it just for the wife. Now you guys are making me worried that she is going to hate it and I wasted $2K

Don't say that just yet.

I had the chopped tour pack on my '11 Street Glide with the standard chopped version of the backrest pad.
Wife said it wasn't that much different than the regular backrest.

Everyone is different, so what might not work for one works just fine for someone else.

The only way to know for sure is to try it.

I know, I've just been going back and forth about this the entire time. I started by putting her on the back of a 2015 CVO RG and she loved it. Then I bought a custom 2015 RG standard with the Arctic Flash kit and tons of extras so I also ordered the chopped pack in the matching paint. I think I may have to try the king pad if she really doesn't like it but I will have her ride a few trips before making that decision.

Thanks,

I saw today where Corbin offers a Ovalbak version of their chopped tour pak back rest for the 2014-15 version. Looks like it would fit the need.
I just put a Sundowner seat on the bike so I can't pop for a Corbin seat that matches. I emailed them to see if they can make it in smooth vinyl to maybe match my seat.

For what it is worth, my gf has screws in her lower back and said it felt tolerable. She rode with a king a couple times and better for her. But she said it is ok. Am glad because it looks way cool. If you need a mount, I have one for sale,, $80 shipped

Thanks Magnut1, unless your mount is different than the stock Harley detach mount, I already have one.
Has anybody been able to use a King backrest on a new style chopped tour pak?
If that would work I would put one of those on for longer trips and the low one for around town.

If you go to Mustangs website and check out the Mustang King backrest, you will see that you would have to drill 3 holes. Harley lids are drilled for 6. It only used 3 of them. The chopped tourpak has 3 holes but they are drilled in the center part of the lid. So you can install the king backrest you would have both bolt patters to swap when you desire. I might do that some day.
