I use a pig form a funnel. I loosen the filter with hd filter wrench then slide in the PIG. then unscrew the oil filter the rest of the way. No mess to clean up and its fast and easy. You can get them on amazon for cheaper. Also get them at auto part stores.

I got a Ziploc bag from my wifes stash. Wrapped it around the loosened filter. No mess

Here is mine. Cheap readily available and works great. I can loosen the filter a tad, place the cup under the filter and up tight against the motor, turn the filter the rest of the way off and leave it laying in the cup as it finishes draining.

Works better than anything else I've used.
