If you get a chance to climb aboard an XLS+, do it. Another change they made--and I thought long overdue, was to move the autopilot controls to the glareshield. And they got rid of that pitch trim marker that was always falling off. (I always thought airplanes deserved a certain level of sophistication, finish and quality, and that little marker became something I detested.) The engines are FADEC-controlled, and they went to a Collins avionics system with four displays. The panel looks a lot like the Sovereign's.
The Sovereign is a classy airplane, and the XL family has a lot of value.
Fly safely. Nice to meet someone familiar with my product line.
I am in San Antonio, fly for Zachry. We have a straight XL, it does what we need to do along witht the Sovereign. Yeah I saw an XL with the Sovereign nose the other day and it took me a while to figure out what I was looking at.
Hey harleyflyboy, where are you in Texas? We just moved to Houston (yeah, we're transplants). I used to work for Cessna in Wichita (on the Flight Line and the Service Center). I have a lot of Excel and Sovereign experience.
What model XL do you fly? The XLS+ is a GREAT airplane--worth a look if you're in the market. It looks a lot sharper, too, with a new nose. They got rid of the big, bulbous nose and gave it the Sovereign-style nose. Very big difference in appearance.
