Hi John,
Sorry to take so long getting back to you but hadn't checked for messages. I live in Mechanicsville and ride my Road King pretty much all year so if you want to take a ride sometime just let me know.
My name is Laurence, and I have to say, your bike is absolutely stunning! I just bought a brand new '09 FXD 3 weeks ago. I've been doing a search on different customized FXD's and that's how I found your profile on the forum. Would you please share exactly what you did to your bike? Obviously you have a slammin' custom paint job. I can see that you also changed the bars out, and put exhaust on. So far, all I had them do to my bike when I bought it was to move the controls forward, and put V & H straightshots on it. I love the FXD, but I wished they did a few different things to it. A.)I really dislike where the stock speedo is. I would have much rather preferred the tank/console mounted one that's on the rest of the dyna's. B.)I think I need to slam the bike too. It's too high up, but then again, I don't want to give up the performance either. I can't decide whether to hang on to the FXD, and customize it to my liking, or have it magically change into an FXDF next season. You definitely seem like you know your way around a bike, and I was just hoping to get some words of wisdom maybe?
I found your name in a search I did regarding a LED gas gauge. I bought the bike with the gauge already on it. The problem is the fuel light comes on when I fill the bike up and it goes out when I use about a gallon of fuel and the light does not come on again until I fill it back up. The gauge works fine the only problem is the fuel light. The gauge has a grey wire coming off it with a resistor on it, but it is not going anywere. I have read about that grey wire, but I do not get a clear answer of were it goes. I can not find a name on the fuel gauge so I can not tell you what kind it is. If you have any information that can help, please let me know.
Thanks,
Neff
I just spoke to HD arts and the guys had no clue what i was looking for. I saw your rear turn signals are now mounted under your tail light. Where did you find that bracket and will it fit my bike?
Can you give me an idea of what it cost you to get your tins repainted? Did it include media blasting and prep? I am planning on getting mine pained vivid black with silver ghost flames. Want to make sure that I am not ripped off.
