Default 3M Vinyl Wrap

Becoming quite popular in the automotive world are the 3M vinyl wraps. You can change the entire color and/or finish of your vehicle. Pretty cool stuff. The latest is the 3M Stealth wrap which is applied over any color paint and produces a matte finish.

Personally I am a big fan of the denim finish and was wondering if anyone had any experience wrapping their bike. I would think the durability and finish must be of quality as some pretty high end cars receiving this treatment like Porsche, Lamborghini etc.

That's basically all they do in NASCAR anymore. I also see a lot of rolling billboards for businesses around my area wrapped. Definitely not for the amateur to apply though.

I work in the music business and many bands have started having their trailers wrapped. It holds up well but sometimes when they remove the wrap it will take some of the original finish/paint off with it.

Don't know how much it cost's for a bike but the bands pay around $10,000.00 per trailer.

One of my bosses has his Audi wrapped in the clear 3m wrap and you can't even tell it's there. Of course over time in the sunlight it will start to fade and dry out. But that's close to 10 years. It's great for getting hit from rocks on the road, helps prevent chips.

Wish I had thought of that for my trip up the Alcan a couple years ago. Got a ton of paint chips from it.

My buddy has all the work trucks wrapped with the look of old school flames going up the hood, but it's grass not flames. It's a landscaping business... Looks pretty cool.

A lot of people in the sport bike scene been wrapping bikes for awhile. Some of them are pretty sweet.

Sounds like some cool stuff .. Do you have to worry about waxing it or protecting it from the elements?

Any idea what it costs for the sport bikes? I like the idea of a custom paint job wrapped in a clear vinyl for an everyday user.

To buy the kits are like 4-500. having it installed is like 1200 bucks. but i'd just do it myself. Heat gun and a steady hand is the way to go. I've seen some pretty sick wraps. A lot of people get from http://bikeskinz.com/
