Default Fuel sight gauge

So I have been thinking about putting on a Fuel sight gauge on my bike. It will give it a kind of cool look and also be functional. But one downside to this, I can totally picture in my head someone disconnecting the clear tube and letting the fuel come out. Am I exaggerating or do you think this would be a good idea, bad idea, or what?

That setup looks a little fragile, could turn a minor accident into spilled fuel.
Just my .02

Want to imitate a plane crash with fuel leakage during a bike crash? "Next, ladies and gentlemen on this road. The Flaming Torch on his sensational bike in a sensational crash ! ! Come and see it all !!"

I considered it too, but there are indeed very big disadvantages. Nr 1 is the application of crash-free tubing. There are two choices: glass, not easy to remove for fuel stealing but fragile. Or plastics, flexible, not fragile but can be ripped away for fuel stealing. No, good first idea but not advisable on a mobile unit like a motobike. Is widely used in shipping. In enginerooms and with stationnary equipment is is widely used and very effective.

Very cool idea, I like the look especially on bobbers and rat bikes.
Some have a brass tube or cage around the glass tube to protect it. I'd use plastic instead of glass but the brass adds to the look.
For me, someone stealing fuel from my bike is my last worry, a car or truck is an easier target and has more fuel. If someone wants to steal fuel from a carbed bike the hoses are there, not sure if fuel will run out of a FI bike.

I see that sort of setup all the time in The Horse Backstreet Choppers. Those bikes are built to be ridden, and ridden hard.

Stop over-thinking it. If you want to do, do it.

I ran a couple site gages on my Shovel. The tubes discolor pretty quick and they need to be replaced every 6 months or so. Which is fine and takes maybe a minute to swap with a new piece of clear hose. You can't live in fear man. Do what you want to your bike, its your motorcycle. Like Vic said, if you want to do it, do it.
